Gurnee, Illinois
Akorn operates a central warehouse and distribution facility at 5605 Centerpoint Court, Suite B, Gurnee, Illinois. This facility is licensed by local and state authorities, and has been successfully inspected by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

At this site, we distribute Akorn product s manufactured at our Somerset, New Jersey and Decatur, Illinois as are products manufactured for Akorn, by internationally based contract manufacturers.

Our Gurnee warehouse operations provide state of the art handling and storage process for both refrigerated and non-refrigerated finished drug products-many of which are registered and approved as USP grade products from the newly constructed facility. Our workforce of utilizes both trucking and air freight carriers to distribute products to major U.S. wholesalers, distributors, and individual customer accounts – along with selected distribution to establish international markets.

Skokie, Illinois
In 2010, Akorn opened its new R&D Center in Skokie, Illinois. The facility provides leading edge capabilities for the development of both new and generic pharmaceuticals. The center’s technology and equipment will enable Akorn to expedite its development programs, bringing a number of new products of the Company. The center was designed with the leading-edge equipment and improvements to streamline the R&D process.

The R&D Center supports programs for a variety of pharmaceutical platforms in both ophthalmic and injectable drug products. Akorn's new facility is focused on both the formulation and analytical components of product development. Formulation is an important step in the process, providing a critical link between the laboratory and commercial manufacturing. Analytical expertise allows the testing and analysis of raw materials, lab scale batches and ultimately the finished product.

The center was designed with leading-edge equipment and improvements to streamline the R&D process.
